There are ways to increase Chrome's caching (think memory) of websites that you commonly visit that will give the illusion of speed. For the most part though these are not very worth your time and I'd suggest keeping the default settings. If you're using Google Chrome, you probably know that it doesn't download files that fast. You can speed up downloads with download acceleration software (like.
Why Chrome downloads so slow?
I just got my ethernet cable connected to my pc, I'm trying to download a cartoon episode that is 171 MBs, and it's downloading it with the speed of 100KBps and it takes 10 minutes with my optic fibre 300MBs speed on the router.
But when I download a Steam game like Sonic Forces, it peaks at 35MBs and hangs around 15MBs and it downloads 1 GBs at like 30 seconds, but chrome takes years to download 171 MBs.
Increase Chrome Download Speed
What the fuck why it's Chrome so slow?! I just cleared the cache and it went from 90KBs to 200KBs, but it's not enough. And yes its KBs, not Kbs, I checked 3 times all the caps and lowercase letters so I'm not typing it wrong.
And even uploading a 10 GBs video, it took 5 minutes in youtube, why?
How To Increase Download
I tried another page and it downloads at 90KBs, whats wrong with it, I tried speedtest.net and it says Download speed 306.92Mbps, why is so slow?
Edit: Not just Chrome, Firefox too, but why does Steam go at maximum velocity and the explorers not, could be the page? But why...

For businesses relying on the Web, a fast download speed is an essential part of maximizing productivity and efficiency. Google Chrome's download speed is dependent on several factors, including local network activity and the speed of the connection provided by your Internet service provider. Several tweaks can be made within the software itself and on the host computer system to improve speed and ensure downloads are transferred as fast as possible given the network.
Click 'Show Advanced Settings'
Click the Chrome menu (it looks like three bars stacked on each other) on the browser toolbar, select 'Settings' and then click the 'Show advanced settings' link.
Click 'Predict Network Actions to Improve Page Load Performance'
Click the box labelled 'Predict network actions to improve page load performance.' This tells Chrome to download pages you are likely to visit next in the background.
Clear Browsing Data
Open the Chrome menu, hover over 'Tools' and select 'Clear browsing data.' Tick the boxes marked 'Empty the cache' and 'Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data' and then select 'The beginning of time' from the drop-down menu at the top. Click 'Clear browsing data' to confirm.
Remove Unused Extensions
Open the Chrome menu, hover over 'Tools' and select 'Extensions.' Click the 'Remove from Chrome' button next to any extensions that are not in use. Remove any extensions that may be having an impact on download speed, such as utilities that download information or connect to a server in the background.
Verify That You are Running the Latest Version
Open the Chrome menu and select 'About Google Chrome' to check you are running the latest version of the software. This ensures Chrome includes the most recent bug fixes and performance improvements.
Tip
As a general rule, keep Windows patched with the most recent updates and keep running applications and background processes to a minimum when downloading files. Use Windows Task Manager to monitor open applications and processes.
If you are experiencing serious problems with the speed of downloads within Chrome, check your anti-virus and firewall applications to ensure the application is allowed to make incoming and outgoing connections. Run a full system scan for security problems in case a malware infection is interfering with Chrome. Uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling the software using the latest version from the Google Chrome website can also fix certain performance problems.
Warning
Google Chrome can only download files and pages as quickly as your Internet connection allows. Use an alternative browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to determine the speeds you can expect on a system. A speed test website such as SpeedTest.net can also be useful for diagnostic purposes.
